I really enjoyed Mansfield's books...good character...realistic, not super heroes, etc. They were very real, and became "friends" whom I missed at the end of the books. I could "see" the locations, feel the emotions, and identify with each character strongly. Well-written...great story. I love the mixture of magics and peoples' beliefs. I love reading books with some new ideas and real reactions to life! Waiting for another and will be looking up other books written by Mansfield.Product details

Waiting for the next installment will be hard. The story is exciting with allot of depth. Dual magic is a good read. Thanks for the escape.
The writer has provided another chapter in a well developed story and world of the spirit and will. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a story with depth and heart.
The addition of more characters and areas of action resolved some of the conflicts. New characters have created plot tension and story line. I look forward to the next book.
The book was well written. It had all the best parts a book should have, to make you fall in love with each character. This book was even better then the first of the series, I am eagerly looking forward to the third book!
This is such a good read, easy to get in the flow of the story. Story of families and the complications therein. Not sure where the next book will take us with all the characters but am sure it will be delightful.
I loved everything about this story. The alternating adventures from the plains to the city. The love that develops between the couple, the strength to over an affair, the strength of the family and the adventure surrounding all of them. You can't go wrong with all that's going on in this adventurous tale.
Not as good as the first, this book has a lot of 'coincidental progress', by that I mean times where the plot reaches an impasse and by some miracle one person has a forgotten talent/relative/enchantment at the ready that overcomes the problem without the story having to go anywhere. I get that this was done to keep the books pace up and keep the pages to a minimum, which the author does well, but some of the cases were just to perfect.
That said, the book is still well written and an excellent read for anyone who finished the first book. The characters are likable and the world created by the author is interesting. There is a lack of real wrong-doing and the villains are quite wimpy, so if you are looking for that then this series is not for you.
